WhatsApp chat to Excel (.xlsx) and CSV

Turn a chat export into a spreadsheet with one row per message: date, time, sender, message, media file and type. Dates and times are real values, so you can sort, filter and build pivot tables.

What is in the file

The first sheet holds all messages, with multi-line messages kept in one cell. The second sheet has statistics per person: messages, share, words, media, and the first and last message.

Statistics in the app

Before exporting you can see messages per person, per month and per hour of the day, and the most used emoji. Search and date filters apply to the statistics and to the export.

CSV for other tools

The CSV file is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Excel shows Hebrew, Arabic and emoji correctly. Cells that start with = + - or @ are protected so they are not run as formulas.

How it works

  1. Export the chat from WhatsApp on your phone, with or without media.
  2. Open the .zip or .txt file in Convobook. Nothing is uploaded.
  3. Read and search it, then save it as PDF, HTML, Excel or CSV.

How to export a chat from WhatsApp

Android

Open the chat → tap ⋮ → More → Export chat → Include media (or Without media) → save the .zip file.

iPhone

Open the chat → tap the chat name at the top → Export chat → Attach media (or Without media) → Save to Files.

What you get

Stays on your device

There is no server behind the converter, and the page's security policy blocks every network connection. You can even turn off Wi-Fi after it opens.

Android and iPhone

Reads exports from both, in many languages and date formats, including multi-line messages and group events.

Chat-bubble PDF

Names, dates, photos and stickers in the conversation, a cover page and page numbers.

HTML archive

One file that opens in any browser, with the photos inside and a search box.

Excel and CSV

One row per message with real dates and times, plus statistics per person.

Merge, search, filter

Join several exports without duplicates, search words, and pick a person or a date range.

Questions

Does it work with Google Sheets or LibreOffice?

Yes. Both open the .xlsx file and the CSV file.

Can I export only some messages?

Yes. Use search, the person filter or the date range, and the export contains only those messages.

Are my messages uploaded?

No. Convobook runs in your browser. The converter page is not allowed to send data anywhere, and it keeps working offline.

What does it cost?

Reading the whole chat and exporting the first 100 messages is free. A 30-day pass costs $9 and a lifetime key costs $19, paid once.

Which chats can I convert?

Chats you exported yourself from your own WhatsApp. Please respect the privacy of the other people in the conversation.
